OVERVIEW
|
SuperConductor
is an open source, multi-platform render farm controller
for coordinated rendering control of multiple graphics/computation/rendering
projects using multiple client apps like World
Construction Set, Lightwave, Maya, Softimage
XSI , POV-Ray, etc.
SuperConductor is written in Object-Oriented C++, using the Qt
3.0 toolkit from Trolltech,
the same foundation class and UI toolkit used in the KDE
Desktop Environment for Linux.
SuperConductor is designed to implement the core render controller,
and provide functionality for controlling various different types
of applications in the form of extensible modular runtime-loaded plugins. |

LICENSE
|
SuperConductor
will be provided, with source, under one of the popular Open
Source licenses. Just exactly which license we determine will
suit the needs of SuperConductor has yet to be determined, but will
probably be GPL or LGPL once we have the chance to review and fully
understand all the ramifications. |

|
PLATFORMS
|
SuperConductor
has been built on 32-bit Windows and modern Linux systems using the
Qt 3.0
toolkit from Trolltech. It
should be possible to compile and run SuperConductor with no changes
under MacOS X with Qt; however the current developers do not have
a MacOS X system with the Qt development environment to test this.
We welcome volunteers
with a MacOS X Qt development system to contact us. |

APPLICATIONS
|
Currently
SuperConductor works with World
Construction Set from 3D Nature. Work is in progress to add support
for Newtek's Lightwave 3D. Want
to see your favorite 3D rendering or computation application supported?
